November - Antiques Appraisal by Michele Beckett
We joined up with the Horticultural Society for a fascinating visit with antiques expert, Michele Beckett

October 12 - Adelaide Hunter Hoodless / Women's Institutes
Erin Fawcett of the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead National Historic Site in St. George treated us to an interesting illustrated presentation about the woman behind the Women's Institute and her legacy in Canada and around the world. She also told us about the many activities at the Homestead site which is well worth a visit.

September 16 - Boat Trip to Long Point
An intrepid group went out for a trip to the tip of Long Point. It was a perfect day for an amazing trip!
June 9 - Road Trip to St. Williams
A follow-up to our March 9 meeting with Dolf and Ann Wynia. We had a wonderful tour of the St. Williams Forestry Farm and Interpretive Centre, where we learned all about the surprising history of the Forestry Farm and had a guided spring tour
of the grounds with Dolf. And a stray cat who accompanied us for the whole tour!
The Centre is a real gem in the County and we urge anyone who hasn't been there (or even anyone who has) to visit. There is a lovely trail through the woods and if you're lucky, you'll be joined by the frisky cat who walked with us through the entire tour.
The centre is at 855 Highway 24 South. (Head south from Waterford on 24 all the way through Simcoe, past Turkey Point Road, past Forestville Road and just past that to the Forestry Farm Road. Interpretive Centre is on your right.

May 11 - Road Trip to Vittoria
On a lovely spring evening, James Christison led us on a fascinating walk through historical Vittoria, beginning at the Town Hall and showing us many of the old houses and businesses. The walk included access to the venerable imitation stone wooden Anglican Church with its 19th century pump organ and carpet as well as to the United Church with a bonus tour of the United Church cemetery. We finished up at the Conservation area with the old mill site where the mill owner's house still stands. Our only regret while in Vittoria was that the Good Bread Company was closed!
April 13 - Memoirs of Grandpa Judd
David Judd, correspondent for the Port Dover Maple Leaf and longtime supporter of local historical initiatives, joined us for a fascinating and moving presentation based on the memoirs of his Grandpa Judd, a member of Norfolk's 133rd Battalion. Robert Judd, also a descendant, came along to listen.
