Here is a video of some of the pictures from the history of the hall from 1902 to 1930. The whistling music is by Charles Crawford Gorst who appeared at the hall in 1922 (at about 4:50 in the video). You might want to turn it down after you get the gist of it.

St. John's Woodhouse Anglican Church - May 2013In May, we had a road trip.
Iris Brunning arranged for us to visit St. John's Woodhouse Anglican Church. The Church has origins going back to 1796 with a wonderful cemetery to explore as well. Sheila Hastie was our guide on a tour of the church and cemetery for a 192-year-old congregation. The cemetery features graves of prominent citizens going as far back as the early 1800s and includes many famous citizens. There is an ancient Camperdown Elm in the rear. |
Rick Collins and Karen Lindsay present the Tornado of '79We had a wonderful crowd show up to look at the pictures of the 1979 Tornado which hit Waterford on a warm August night.
Many people shared their own stories, frightening and funny, of the event and its aftermath. |

Many long-time residents of Waterford remember Jean Rosse, the Vegetable Lady, who rode around town on her bicycle selling vegetables and flowers door-to-door. But very few people knew much about her. Karen Lindsay was very fortunate to get her hands on some of Jean Rosse's notebooks and paintings when she died and discovered a side of her that no one imagined. A painter and a poet, Jean captured life in this small town in a way no one else ever did. Karen brought along suitcases full of amazing work and some wonderful stories about an amazing woman that none of us really knew.
Jean Rosse brought people out of the woodwork - We had an excellent turnout for this talk!
Through research and luck, Karen has brought Jean Rosse to life for us.
Expect to hear more about her in the future ...
